Uranyl nitrate, hexahydrate
A Universal EM Negative Stain used for viruses. In tissue samples it stabilises nucleic acids and cell membranes. These solutions are more stable than uranyl acetate and react primarily with negatively charged groups in the absence of phosphate ions.
