Snap It ampoule openers
SnapIT is a simple, effective tool designed to make opening glass ampoules safer and easier. Invented by a registered nurse in Rockxhampton, QLD, SnapIT was developed in response to the high number of sharps injuries associated with ampoule use. With up to 26% of needlestick and sharps injuries (NSIs) linked to opening or handling ampoules, SnapIT offers a multi-use alternative that reduces risk and increases confidence during medication preparation.
How it works:
Insert the ampoule lid into the SnapIT device, ensuring the correct size is used. If the ampoule has a dot, align it with the dot on the SnapIT. Snap away from your body to cleanly open the ampoule, then eject the top directly into a sharps container.
Available Models:
- Trolley Edition (Metal): Flat-sided to prevent rolling, ideal for benchtop and team use in hospital and clinical environments.
- Pocket Edition (Anodised Aluminium): Designed for personal use—lightweight, durable, and easy to carry on a keyring or lanyard.
Ampoule Compatibility:
- Regular size: 1–2ml, 5–10ml, and 10–15ml ampoules
- Large Trolley Edition: 5–10ml and 20–25ml ampoules
