Used in histology for staining of nerves. This highly purified gold compound may be used for the preparation of colloidal gold sols. Golden-yellow to reddish, highly hygroscopic, crystals. Deteriorates readily in UV light, is caustic on skin, dissolves well in water and alcohol.
