Diethylene glycol distearate (DGD)
Easy to cut removable embedding medium. For thin or thick embedment free sections. Ribbons easily obtainable. Floats on water. Sections produce interference colors. Ethanol and n-butyl alcohol used as dehydrating agents.
Diethylene Glycol Distearate is a white waxy solid at room temperature. Therefore, Fully melt DGD at 70°C prior to use. The specimens are transferred from 100% n-butyl alcohol to a mixture of 1:1 of n-butyl alcohol and molten DGD and are incubated for at least 45 minutes.
